The lights are flashing, YES!

Aw man, it's been 15 days since I've last updated my blog. I'm slacking I know! haha.
However, I have quite a few things to update on...like my recent photoshoot! XD
Okay well, in all honesty I wasn't too happy with the photoshoot. I got decent shots but nothing that really stood out. I believe this was my poorest shoot yet! haha. However, just like Kobe missed the buzzer in the last Lakers game, I supppose i'm aloud to slip up once or twice, no? Hopefully I'll be able to redeem myself in my next shoot on Saturday. :)

Here are the shots!

My models was my good friend Devonne. I asked her to model for me and she was more than happy to do so. It's been a while since we've seen eachother so it was really nice to see her again. Good to know that she's still her quirky self. XD

I also want to thank my crew, especially Missy (Left) who's always sticking through my LOOOONG photoshoots haha. And Welcome to my new Stylist Sharifa! (Right)

After everything was Shot and Done, we played around a bit. :)

Learn from the masters...

Everyone wants to be great at what they do, may it be accounting, designing, suggesting or selling. We all, or at least most of us want to become masters of our craft. In this case for me, I want to master the art of fashion photography. For the past few weeks I've been reading through books, online guides, blogs, and watching photoshoots on youtube. I can say that I gained a lot of knowledge on the subject of Fashion Photography but it seemed like something was still missing. So yesterday I went to the studio to work on a few lighting techniques, however my multimedia co-ordinator ended up giving me a whole lesson on lighting himself. XD
However, he also gave me a list of well known Masters in the art of fashion photohgraphy to study up on, such as Platon, Helmut Newton and Steichen. It seems like for this week, instead of reading up on the latest trends and news in fashion, I'll be learning from the Masters. :)

Wish me luck!

Lights, Camera, FIERCE!...

A lot of the Ad campaigns these days haven't really been doing their thing. And by that I mean, not selling the product. It sometimes seems like the photographers don't care as much anymore. They hire a model, take a few DECENT pictures, photoshop and then their done. Lately I've been seeing that a lot with DKNY and GUCCI. Perhaps it's just some sort of widespread photographer's block, but whatever it is, I hope it ends soon. We need less bland ads and more of a touch of creativity!

Which leads me to this campaign.

Jimmy Choo S/S 10 campaign

The S/S collection for Jimmy Choo. I saw this Ad today and nearly cried tears of joy. Terry Richardson did a great job with this campaign, and Angela Lindvall (Love her!) looks absolutely stunning. It's vibrant, it's refreshing, it SELLS. To me, these ads represent Jimmy Choo; Sexy and luxurious yet still has that air of sophistication. And God knows that if I weren't a guy I'd be down there right now buying everything in stock. Compared to their S/S and F/W '09 campaigns. (Which I also found to be great!)This is how you say...FIERCE!

That's no ghost!...

First off I'd like to wish you all a happy 2010. I hope everything goes well for you all this year with many surprises, blessings and all other shenanigans to come. :)

Earlier this morning I was reading through "With love...:, one of my favourite fashion blogs so far, especially since the blogger is from Toronto! Check it out: Anyways she happened to link us to an article about a new cosmetic trend among the youth, mainly Twilight fans. Apparently there has been a huge influx of people demanding paler powders and foundation while the demand for bronzer has significantly decreased. Although this trend had started before the release of the Twilight movies, it would not be hard to believe that it strengthened the trend. I find it interesting how this movie has influenced the trends among teens. I never thought it would have affected cosmetic sales or anything of the sort. In any case, I'm sure that a lot of people who have been chastised for their pale skin will be breathing a sigh of relief for a while now. ;)
